Commissioner Beninga has served on the Minnehaha County Commission since January 2011. Originally from Lennox, SD, he attended Nettleton Junior College and the University of Sioux Falls. Commissioner Beninga retired in 2024, after serving as the President and CEO of Active Generations for over 30 years.
Commissioner Beninga is an active member in the community and serves on the Sioux Council of Scouting and Our Saviors Lutheran Task Force.
